Senate to Review CLARITY Act in January 2025 After Government Shutdown Delays
The long-awaited Digital Asset Market Clarity Act will finally reach Senate markup in January 2025 after being stalled by October's 43-day government shutdown. White House crypto czar David Sacks confirmed the timeline following discussions with Senate Banking Committee Chair Tim Scott and Agriculture Committee Chair John Boozman.
The legislation, which passed the House with bipartisan support in July, seeks to establish clear regulatory boundaries between crypto securities and commodities while defining jurisdictional roles for the SEC and CFTC. Market participants view this as a critical step toward institutional adoption.
Should the Senate pass an amended version, the bill WOULD return to the House before potentially reaching President Trump's desk. The crypto industry anticipates final implementation by January 2026.
